Everybody wants to know the secrets. How do you get more views/subscribers/etc? An increasing number of people online are seeking success. Currently, there are many YouTubers who are making a living off of making videos! Wouldn't it be awesome if you were one of them? I wish I was...
Well guess what! It's not as easy as it used to be. Maybe if you tried a few years ago, it wouldn't be as hard. A lot of YouTubers who have gained success started out years ago. There were less people back then, which meant less competition. YouTubers like Smosh gained success early on because of the quality of their content. But what if they were just starting out?
The fact is, it would be 10x harder.
Every second, at least 1 hour of video is uploaded. This was back in January. It will only increase. People scrolling through videos have a smaller chance of seeing your video, much less decide to watch it.
So how DO you make it on YouTube?
The thing is, you can't do it alone anymore. And if you did, you'd be extremely lucky.
They say it's not what you know, but who you know. This applies 100%. It's not the content you can provide, but who you know is willing to support it. Let's look at a few examples.
TheWillofDC lived with RayWilliamJohnson for a while. If not for Ray, Will would be a nobody.
My buddy TimsVlogs happened to be in a couple of Ty and Gray's vlogs. BAM! A couple thousand subscribers right there.
Ok, someone outside of YouTube. Nicki Minaj. Need I say more?
I heard Outasight on the radio the other day. Who jumpstarted their career? RayWilliamJohnson.
MichaelWarbux got a shoutout from SXEPhil. Now he's up to 23k subs.
I'm not saying you're doomed if you're not friends with a bigger YouTuber, but it's almost instant success if you were. You can still make it. I don't recall Freddie Wong getting help. He provided content that was highly appealing. The YouTube standard for content keeps increasing, which makes it evermore difficult to provide that certain content that everyone is looking for. And with more YouTubers, originality becomes harder and harder. We already have a viral video reviewer, a news reporter, and a guy with a lot of explosions and gunshots.
So my question is, what will YOU bring to the table?

Meeting New People
With going off to a totally new school, I find that the majority of people at Marquette are people I don't know (quite obviously). I joined a few Facebook groups that are Marquette related. I've also already made some friends and had some nice conversations. The more people I meet, the less awkward it will be to attend Marquette my freshman year. Today's post is short, but it leads up to something bigger that I want to talk about tomorrow.

College Jobs
Even though I need to focus on homework when I'm in college, I went ahead and applied for 3 campus jobs. Assistant Building Manager, Concessions, and Security Aid. I got responses from the first 2 and am waiting on the third. My interviews are coming up shortly. That's all I got for today... Wish me luck!

10 Things For College
As I start a new life living somewhere other than where I lived for 18 years, I'll need to take some stuff along. Here are the 10 things that I will need for college.
1) Oscillating Tower Fan. The dorm rooms don't have A/C so a tower fan is a must have for anyone!
2) XBox 360. When I'm lonely or want to pwn some noobs on COD, I'll need my 360 available at college. Plus I can get Netflix and play DVDs on it.
3) Laptop. This is a no-brainer. If I don't have my laptop, I can't do homework. But most importantly, I can't do videos! Which brings me to number 4.
4) Flip Ultra HD. It ain't no 60D, but my Flip is something I've always used. Without it, you guys would be stuck with crappy webcam videos.
5) Futon. I suppose I could just sit on the floor, but since I have a futon, I decided I should take it anyways.
6) Batteries. I plan on buying some rechargeable batteries. Without them, I couldn't use my Flip.
7) Planner. I don't have the best memory, so I'll have to write down my assignments so I don't forget. Last thing I want is to get behind.
8) iHome. Not only does it play my music with it's 2 passive subwoofers, but it's also my alarm clock. I'd miss class altogether if I didn't wake up.
9) Detergent. I don't plan on wearing 3 week old socks. Yuck! Gotta wash them!
10) Creativity. Actually, I can't bring something that I don't have...

Countdown To College!
As college gets closer, I'm getting more excited. I move in 10 days. Until then, I will be posting everyday. These posts will contain both pointless and important information. Nothing stupid like what I'm wearing, but stuff that's wrapping up.
This week is my last full week at work. That also means that my source of income will be smaller. I applied for 3 jobs at Marquette: Assistant Building Manager, Concessions, and Security Aid. The other jobs didn't really fit me. I could never see myself as a bartender or waiter. I will be doing one of those jobs (hopefully), only on the weekends though.
I will soon also have to adjust to living in the same room as someone else. I have been by myself in my room for almost 19 years. This will be something that might be difficult to adjust to.
Tomorrow I will discuss 10 things I'm taking with me to my dorm room.

Where The Hell Is Kyle?
My YouTube channel has been a little.... inactive lately. Ok, completely dead. I can't say this is a first for me. If you've been around for a while, I sometimes take freakishly long breaks. In this case, I can legitimately say I've been busy. Last week I worked 53 hours between 2 jobs. I've been also shopping for college supplies and figuring out what books I'll need. I've been... having fun... if that's allowed. In just 2 weeks, I'll be moving to Milwaukee.
That would be the good part. Once I'm there, I won't have to worry about work. I won't have to worry about preparing for anything. I'll finally be at college. I'll know exactly when I'll have free time to make videos on a regular basis. Even better, I'll maybe have some help from my new roommate. My life is kind of backwards. I have more time during the school year than I do during summer. During the school year, school is all I have to worry about, which is why I'm always more active then than I am during any given summer.
During my journey, if I'm ever absent for more than a week, I will try my best to keep this blog updated. I also regularly update my Twitter. Follow me there @Guiness5000.

Nearly Moving
As most of you know, in a few short weeks I will be going off to college. While there I will continue my YouTube career. With my new location, that also means using a different computer than normal. A couple of Christmas's ago I got my first laptop. I got a Toshiba Satellite mid-range laptop. More recently, I've upgraded to 6Gb of ram in preparation of college. Throughout this entire time, this laptop has worked wonderfully. If anyone is looking for a less expensive yet powerful laptop, you should really consider getting a Toshiba Satellite.
